Petra Scores Unprecedented Record of 7,720 Visitors in One Day

 AMMAN — Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority Suleiman Farajat on Thursday said that 7,720 tourists of various nationalities visited Petra today, thus breaking the record number of visits to the site in one day.

 In a statement by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Farajat said that the high turnout of tourists to Petra, requires cultivating efforts in preserving it as an international heritage site, increasing the quality of the services offered, limiting the number of tourism violations and working on distributing the incoming economic revenue among the various sectors of society.

 Farajat added that the authority in Petra is working with the government to increase the region’s budget in the coming years with the hope of developing its infrastructure and superstructure.
